Iraq's ambassador in Cairo, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, today received the national blind football team delegation ahead of their participation in an international friendly tournament hosted by Ismailia, Egypt.
The reception was held to show support for athletes with disabilities, with the ambassador praising the team's determination and competitive spirit born from overcoming challenges. He affirmed that their active participation in international forums reflects Iraq's capabilities and will to overcome difficulties.
Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf said: "You are an honorable image for us." He added: "The participation of athletes with disabilities in international sports competitions represents an honorable image of Iraq." He wished them success and good fortune in their upcoming sporting endeavors.
This support comes as the senior men's national team faces challenges in World Cup qualifying, sitting fourth in their group with zero points from three games.
